Tiarella cordifolia-Foam Flower

Foam Flower delights in the spring with small white blooms along airy racemes that reach well above the ground-hugging foliage. These flowers provide an important early season nectar source for small native bees. En masse, its long stamens give the inflorescences a soft, fluffyappearance, hence its common name. Cutting the flower spikes back after blooms fade will improve the look of the foliage for the remainder of the season. Semi-glossy, lobed leaves take on an attractive red or bronze color in the fall and often remain through the winter, providing multi-season visual interest. While not an aggressive species, it will spread via runners to form a wide colony if given the space and can be massed to form a ground cover.
