Scutellaria incana- Hoary Skullcap
Hoary Skullcap is a showy late-summer bloomer with eye-catching racemes of hooded, violet flowers that last for weeks and support an array of pollinators, most notably bumblebees. Its foliage hosts the skullcap caloptilia and skullcap skeletonizer moths. Hardy, low maintenance and easy to grow, it has a clumping nature and so will form a tight colony over time but is not aggressive like many of its fellow members of the mint family. Well-behaved in the garden, tolerant of drought, and resistant to deer and rabbit grazing.
