Pycnanthemum tenuifolium-Slender Mountain Mint

Slender Mountain Mint is named for its narrow, needle-like leaves that sprout from erect multi-branching stems and give the plant a delicate, feathery appearance. From early summer into the fall its stems are topped with clusters of small, white flowers that attract numerous pollinators, most notably various species of native bees as well as bumblebees and honeybees. This hardy and adaptable plant is easy to grow in a variety of conditions and will spread via rhizome, though not as aggressively as other members of the mint family. Its aromatic leaves can be steeped to make tea and can also be rubbed against the skin for a natural mosquito repellant.
