Phlox divaricata-Wild Blue Phlox

Wild Blue Phlox brings an early season pop of color to the garden and provides a valuable nectar source for newly emerged pollinators in the spring. Its lustrous, deep green foliage creates a rich backdrop for loose clusters of fragrant pale blue flowers, each with five rounded petals and a prominent central tube. These star-like flowers rise several inches above its lance-shaped leaves, which stay low as they creep along the ground. Its spreading nature makes Wild Blue Phlox an excellent choice for ground cover in shaded or partially shaded areas, but it is not considered aggressive and will play nicely with its neighbors. A low maintenance plant, it will tolerate a variety of soil types and is drought tolerant once established.
