Carex bromoides- Brome-like sedge

Brome-like sedge is the perfect addition to wet, shady areas, thriving in rain gardens and water-logged zones where others will not. It grows in dense clumps up to 2ft tall, with finely textured arching foliage that shoots up early in the spring before most warm season plants are ready to green up. A cloud of small golden florescence emerges from above the foliage in spring and slowly disappears as the greenery expands. Host plant for a number of native butterflies and moths.
