Aquilegia canadensis-Columbine

Wild Columbine has a light, airy texture with distinctive, deeply lobed leaves close to the ground and showy flowers that dangle from the tops of stalks 1-3 ft tall, attracting pollinators with their striking contrast of red outer petals and yellow inner petals. It provides nectar in a critical moment for pollinators after the earliest spring flowers have withered but before summer blooms have matured. It can be used in cut flower arrangements and provides fall interest with striking yellow foliage. It is both deer and rabbit-resistant and will tolerate almost any sun or soil conditions except standing water.
