Sisyrinchium angustifolium- Blue-eyed Grass

Despite its name and narrow foliage, Blue-eyed Grass is not actually a grass but a member of the iris family. In late spring and early summer, thin stalks boast star-shaped, lavender to blue flowers that open each morning and close by evening. Native bees and other pollinators are attracted to their bright yellow centers. The plant’s compact growth habit makes it perfect for garden edges and it looks especially beautiful when massed. Spreads via rhizome to form a clump and can function beautifully as a ground cover in sunny spots. Prefers amore moist soil than does its close cousin, Sisyrinchium albidum.
