Pycnanthemum muticum- Clustered Mountain Mint

Clustered Mountain Mint catches the eye with unique, silvery-green upper foliage. This provides the backdrop for small pinkish-white tubular flowers that grow in dense, rounded clusters atop erect, multi-branching stems. Pollinators of all kinds flock to these blooms. This versatile and low maintenance forb has a lovely spearmint aroma that is attractive to people but repellent to deer and rabbits. While not as aggressive as many other mints, this species is a vigorous grower and should be planted alongside other stalwart plants that will not cede their ground. Can limit its spread by pruning the roots or pulling unwanted new shoots in the spring.
