Asclepias sullivantii- Prairie Milkweed

From midsummer to early fall, Prairie Milkweed boasts clusters of elegant, domed flowerheads adorned with intricate, star-shaped blooms in shades of soft pink to pale lavender. These flowers attract a myriad of pollinators, most notably the endangered Monarch, which relies on milkweed for food and habitat at every point in its lifecycle. Similar in appearance to its cousin the Common Milkweed, it is shorter in stature, less aggressive, and prefers a more moist soil. Low-maintenance, hardy and tolerant of the occasional drought once established. Deer and rabbit resistant.
